Preview Arcade Fire’s ‘Afterlife’ Studio Version With Haitian-Inspired Teaser

Arcade Fire have shed yet another bit of light on their upcoming fourth album, Reflektor. The indie-rock giants dropped a brief teaser for new song “Afterlife” on Friday, treating fans to a preview of the track’s studio version. Dubbed “Afterglow,” the just-under-a-minute clip opens with visuals inspired by Haitian culture, falling in line with the LP’s overall aesthetic of being a “mash-up of Studio 54 and Haitian voodoo,” according to frontman Win Butler. For most of the trailer, the audio consists only of isolated vocals. Slowly, though, the disco-indebted music kicks in as black-and-white live footage of the band (presumably filmed during one of their recent performances at Montreal venue Salsathèque) flashes across the screen.

Watch the short above, and scroll down for another “Afterlife” trailer, which was uploaded to YouTube on October 15. For a full-length glimpse at “Afterlife,” watch Arcade Fire perform it on SNL. And in case you somehow didn’t already hear, Reflektor is due out October 29 on Merge Records.
