The Drums’ Jonny Pierce Builds Beachside ‘Home’ for ‘Kitsune’ Comp

Jonny Pierce 'Hom' Kitsune Maison compilation Stream The Drums

Drums-gasm! Both members of Florida-born, Brooklyn-based, Balearic-dreaming indie-pop duo the Drums have said they’re working on solo projects in the aftermath of sparkling 2011 album Portamento. But first, Parisian electronic music label Kitsuné‘s upcoming 15th edition of its Kitsuné Maison Compilation series (due out October 21) offers a glimpse of what could be in store from the band’s singer, Jonny Pierce. “Home,” Pierce’s track for the Kitsuné comp, is sunny, sleek electro-pop in line with such peers and influences as Tanlines, the Tough Alliance, or the Drums’ original No. 1 inspiration, the Embassy. Between the tropical guitar lines and airy synths, though, are Pierce’s sighing vocals, evincing resolute optimism: “It won’t be long til we can have a home.” The view will be breathtaking.
