Moby and Wayne Coyne Are Pied Pipers of Weird in ‘The Perfect Life’ Video

Moby and Wayne Coyne’s on-camera collaboration can be seen at last, and it’s every bit as freaky, fun, and flesh-filled as you’d expect. About a month ago, Los Angeles’ posivibes electronipop king and the Flaming Lips’ wizard-in-chief issued a bizarre casting call in order to populate the video for their song, “The Perfect Life,” which appears on Moby’s October 1 LP Innocents. Then we were given a preview of the thing, which turns out to be B-roll footage of a hippiefied sing-along atop a helipad in downtown L.A.

Now we can take in the finished product, which finds our two heroes walking the streets on the look for fellow misfits and strangeoids who might appreciate their vision of the title concept. They pick up a drunk king, a ribbon-wielding S&M gimp, a goth choir (spotted riding Angels Flight), a burlesque dancer, some rollerskating ghosts, and a whole bunch of other happy weirdos. No sign of Ke$ha or the rest of the Lips, but all things in time. After all, the perfect life isn’t achieved in three minutes and 45 seconds.
