Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake School the NFL in ‘Evolution of End Zone Dancing’

Jimmy Fallon Justin Timberlake Evolution of End Zone Dancing video

With Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake most likely running out of songs to include in their ongoing “History of Rap” series, the jacks of all trades turned their attention to football for their latest lesson. In the Late Night skit “The Evolution of End Zone Dancing,” Jimmy and Justin mimed their way through not only the past, but what we can only hope is the future of touchdown celebrations. Over a disco beat provided by the Roots that occasionally borrows from Fox’s NFL theme, the duo takes on classics like the “Ickey Shuffle” and the “Dirty Bird,” then shows off some new moves: the “Taking a Selfie,” for instance, and the “Old-Timey Railroad Car.” A couple of topical entries lean toward the meh side, but overall the quality — particularly at the end — is great enough to keep this off SPIN’s list of Fumbled NFL Musical Moments. Also don’t miss Volcano Choir’s smoldering Fallon rendition of “Byegone” in the Justin Vernon-led group’s TV debut.
