Lily Collins Wields Supernatural Powers in M83’s ‘Claudia Lewis’ Video

It’s a classic narrative: Boy meets attractive shy girl, boy falls for her, girl turns out to have a glowing finger that makes her self conscious, and so on. That’s the basic plot of M83’s new video for “Claudia Lewis,” directed by Bryce Dallas Howard (a.k.a. Ron Howard’s daughter and the star of The Village and The Help). The blue-haired girl with the interesting gift is played by Lily Collins (Mirror Mirror, Abduction, and daughter of Phil) while her paramour is The Bling Ring‘s Israel Broussard. As Howard explained to Vogue, the inspiration here was David Bowie’s 1976 sci-fi flick The Man Who Feel to Earth: We were toying around with the idea of giver her orange hair, “but we wanted to go for something that was truly otherworldly.”

While that may give you some idea of what the girl’s deal is, it still won’t spoil the ending. “Cladia Lewis” comes from M83’s 2011 Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming LP.
