Kanye West Dodges Felony Charges for Silencing Paparazzo With His Fists

Kanye West, felony charges, misdemeanor

Kanye West won’t face felony charges for tussling with a paparazzo at Los Angeles International Airport last month, but the Yeezus mastermind could still face prosecution.

According to the Associated Press, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office revealed on Friday (August 16) that it won’t pursue a felony charge against ‘Ye, but the case is being referred to the city attorney, who could file misdemeanor charges. The incident in question happened outside an LAX terminal on July 19, when West lunged at a photographer and reportedly tried to snatch his camera away. Video footage of the scuffle surfaced online (by way of TMZ, of course). In the clip, which can be seen below, West gets visibly agitated after the photographer violates the golden rule: Don’t talk to Kanye

An unidentified eyewitness said that ‘Ye threw punches and paramedics apparently arrived on the scene, but prosecutors said the paparazzo avoided significant injury, and it’s not clear if his camera was damaged. They also noted that no weapon was used in the altercation and that West has no prior felony record. Watch Kanye go H.A.M.:
