Kanye West Will Tie Madonna for Most MTV VMAs Performances of ALL TIME

Kanye West MTV VMAs

Fun things always seem to happen when Kanye West drops by the MTV Video Music Awards. Whether he’s storming the stage to interrupt Taylor Swift, having backstage meltdowns, or just performing, it’s always worth tuning in to see him. And this year, he’s coming back to perform his Yeezus cut “Black Skinhead” when the VMAs take place from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. (Guess there aren’t any hard feelings over Kanye West’s alleged “fuck MTV” rant following the Swift debacle.)

This will mark Kanye’s seventh time performing on the VMA stage, tying Madonna’s all-time record. Yeezy made his first appearance in 2004 with a medley of “Jesus Walks/All Falls Down/Through the Wire,” aided by Chaka Khan. He’s won three Moonman statues, most recently sharing Best Collaboration with Katy Perry for “E.T.” in 2011.

The VMAs air an on Augst 25 at 9 p.m. EST. Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead the pack with six nominations apiece, and Lady Gaga will unveil her new song Applause.”
