Dr. Dog Sent to the Farm on 'Yo Gabba Gabba'

Adorably named Philadelphia outfit Dr. Dog dropped by Nick Jr.’s Yo Gabba Gabba! earlier this week to teach kids about farm life. Described as “delightfully psychedelic” by the band’s camp, the colorful segment cast the big city six-piece as a crew of heartland-lovin’ gardeners. Outfitted in denim overalls, plaid shirts, and straw hats, the versatile genre-hoppers played an original track titled “When You’re a Gardener.” With its cheery shimmy and skit-specfic instrumentation — Pumpkin drums! Strings plucked on a rake! — the educational tune is far more kid-friendly than the group’s recent single, the sadly swaying “The Truth.”

This isn’t Dr. Dog’s first contribution to Yo Gabba Gabba! Their song “What Story Do You Want to Hear?” appeared on the 2010 compilation Yo Gabba Gabba! Music Is Awesome, Vol. 2.
