Chris Brown’s Frank Ocean Beatdown May Cost Him Big Money

Chris Brown Frank Ocean Lawsuit Cousin Shakeir Duarte

As it turns out, Chris Brown’s January scuffle with Frank Ocean may wind up costing him more than a written dis in the form of (another) “Versace” remix. As The Wrap reports, a lawsuit has been filed as a result of the incident, which allegedly found Brown and three of his compatriots beating up on Ocean and Ocean’s cousin after a discrepancy arose over a parking spot outside of West Hollywood’s Westlake Recording Studio. If you’ll recall, Brown threatened to “bust” the channel ORANGE singer.

The legal action actually comes from the cousin, Sha’keir M. Duarte, and takes aim at both Brown and one of his employees (identifed as “Hood” in the suit) charging battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and conspiracy to commit battery. Ocean appears to be left out of it, as the document focuses on Duarte’s experience, alleging that the unnamed name “lunged and struck plaintiff with a punch to his face” following Brown’s command of, “Get that N—er!”

Duarte then apparently went down, and “Hood commenced to beat and kick [Duarte] about the head as he lay on the ground,” tallying at least 12 significant blows which inspired Brown to shout, “You just got your ass beat and its all on camera.” The day’s violence caused “great mental, physical, and nervous pain and suffering.” The lawsuit also explains, “Plaintiff is informed and believes and thereon alleges that these injuries will result in some permanent disability to him.”

Duarte seeks unspecified damages both general and punitive, plus legal fees.
