Beck, Cat Power, and Giorgio Moroder are all aboard “Station to Station,” a traveling multimedia showcase that will make stops in several American cities this fall. Organized by artist Doug Aitken, the upcoming series is billed as a “Nomadic Happening,” a public art project that will “connect leading figures and underground creators from the worlds of art, music, food, literature, and film.” Over the course of three weeks in September, a train will travel from New York to San Francisco, pausing in nine different locations for various pop-up events.

Other musicians booked include No Age, Savages, Dan Deacon, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Garaffiti, Twin Shadow, Eleanor Friedberger, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Cold Cave, THEESatisfaction, Nite Jewel, the Congos, the Handsome Family, Lucky Dragons, Sun Araw, and Connan Mockasin, with many more to be announced.

Station to Station will launch on September 6 at the Duggal Greenhouse in New York’s Brooklyn Navy Yard; then it’s on to Pittsburgh’s Union Station/The Pennsylvanian on September 8; next comes Chicago’s Union Station on September 10; followed by St. Paul’s Union Depot on September 12; then Lamy in New Mexico for September 18; then over to La Posada in Winslow, Arizona on September 21; the train will pull into Barstow, California for a happening at the Skyline Drive-In on September 24; the next stop will be Union Station in Los Angeles on September 26; and finally, the tour ends on September 28 at the 16th Street Station in Oakland.

Lineups will vary depending on location and details are still being sorted out, so consult the program’s official website for more information. Tickets go on sale Friday, August 9 at noon local time. Watch a trailer for the project below.
