Hodgy Beats Buries Himself in Sand for ‘Alone’ Video

Hodgy Beats 'Alone' Video Untitled 2 EP

Hodgy Beats’ new Untitled 2 EP features a couple of hard-rock forays that may seem like an odd fit, but the rest of the thing offers up the Odd Future MC at his best: thoughtful, skilled, and singing (!) over moody but crisp production. Our first taste was “Years,” a song that looked forward, and now we have the video for “Alone,” a track that looks back — both at a relationship that’s dissolved and over our host’s shoulder for incoming trouble-makers.

“I’m never alone / It’s me, myself and this misery,” Hodgy begins the first verse, then later swaps the latter with, “It’s me, myself, and my son.” While the song walks that yin-yang of frustration and joy, the video finds the MellowHype member in various solo scenarios: burying himself in sand at the beach, laying prosaic in a field, and lording over an office made of paper. The clip was directed by Hodgy himself with newcomer Ian Flanagan.
