Nine Inch Nails to Debut New Single ‘Came Back Haunted’ on Thursday

Trent Reznor, Nine Inch Nails

Music from Nine Inch Nails’ first studio album since 2008’s The Slip will hit the airwaves on Thursday. A new single titled “Came Back Haunted” will hit radio at 2:30 p.m. EST on June 6, Radio.com confirms.

Lisa Worden, music director for Los Angeles alternative station KROQ, told Radio.com the song recalls early NIN. “I think it’s in line with the first two albums,” Worden said. “It’s got a great beat. It’s not the experimental material Trent’s done in the last five years.” She added, “I wouldn’t say that it’s dance-y, but it does have a great beat, a groove.”

The report confirms earlier hints. As Consequence of Sound pointed out, Las Vegas radio station X1075 retweeted a message from one of its DJs saying he will premiere a new NIN single on the station on Thursday.

Last week, Reznor revealed Nine Inch Nails have signed with Columbia Records and will release an album in 2013. “For the last year I’ve been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great,” Reznor said in a statement. The album’s title and release date remain unclear, as is the name of the single X1075 has indicated it will debut.

NIN have been prepping a U.S. arena tour this fall that would expand worldwide in 2014. Up first are a set of festival dates this summer, starting with Japan’s Fuji Rock fest on July 26. Also on the schedule are Lollapalooza Outside Lands, Pukkelpop, Reading, Made in America, Voodoo, and more. Reznor recently completed NIN’s touring lineup by naming Robin Finck to replace Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery, who left saying he “got overwhelmed.”
