Earl Sweatshirt Cancels Bonnaroo Gig, Delayed DIIV Takes His Place

Earl Sweatshirt Cancels Bonnaroo

Earl Sweatshirt has had to cancel his appearance at this weekend’s Bonnaroo festival due to illness. The Odd Future rhymer made the announcement on Twitter, writing, “To everyone at bonnaroo: im sorry i cant make it im really really fucking sick but i will make it up to tennessee as soon as i possibly can.” He’s since been personally apologizing to nearly every fan who has expressed his or her disappointment in response.

In addition to a Friday afternoon solo set, Sweatshirt was slated to partake in the four-day Manchester, Tennessee fest’s annual all-star Superjam. Last year’s event was hosted by ?uestlove and featured a surprise set from D’Angelo. Tomorrow night, Earl would have been joined by the RZA, DJ Jazzy Jeff, ScHoolboy Q, Solange Knowles, and Chad Hugo of the Neptunes amongst others. We’re fairly certain he didn’t want to miss that.

But just in case, Sweatshirt wants fans to know he’s not faking it:

DIIV also noted a change in their Bonnaroo plans on Twitter, writing, “our @Delta flights got cancelled this morning because of weather in NYC so OUR SET IS NOW AT 4PM TMRW (FRI) — more info soon xo.” They were scheduled to play today but have taken Earl’s slot. In other news, two fans headed to the festival tragically lost their lives in an eight-vehicle pile-up in the wee hours of the night after a big rig driver lost control.
