Doctor P Delivers Deft Dubstep Deliciousness With ‘The Champagne Bop’

Doctor P 'The Champagne Bop' Stream Big Beat

It feels a little unkind to share a Friday-night ripper like this on a Tuesday morning, but perhaps the bass-damaged club-dub of Doctor P can provide a little work week relief for those in need. England’s Shaun Brockhurt has recorded under a handful of names and projects — DJ Picto, Slum Dogz, Sounds Destructive — and helps run the dubstep label Circus Records with fellow low-end lover Flux Pavilion. But as Doctor P he’s found his biggest following (not to mention a deal with Atlantic dance imprint Big Beat Records) and listening to “The Champagne Bop,” it’s not hard to understand why. Though heavy on the robot skronk, this track also trades in busy synth sequences, slashed and mashed ragga vocals, rap chants, ratchet drums, major drops, and bounding dubs. All of which comes together to make an aggressive groove that could go on for days. Hopefully it’ll carry you into the weekend.

Doctor P tour dates:

June 19 – Seattle, WA @ Foundation
June 23 – Las Vegas, NV @ EDC
June 29 – Toronto, ON @ Digital Dream
