Bishop Nehru Looks for Trouble in First-Person ‘Muffled/M.I.C.’ Video

Though he’s only 16, New York rapper Bishop Nehru imbues his videos with as much care as his songs have skill. Much like the recent clip for his “Fertile Mind$,” the new treatment for “Muffled/M.I.C.” is based on a beguiling storyline wherein Nehru plays a teenage troublemaker. Shot in first-person, it’s certainly eye-catching, but the true shine comes from the all-too-brief new track. The warmly blunted song features the young Bishop deftly piling up syllables without making it a point. His laid-back flow and stuffy voice continue to disarm, and serve him well — we could listen to dude rap about rapping all damned day. “Muffled/M.I.C.” will feature on Nehru’s upcoming mixtape Strictly Flowz, which will be hosted by DJ Semtex and Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg. The latter has made a career out of riding golden-age revivalists, but this rising star may be too chilled-out to be corrupted.
