Hear Mikal Cronin’s Fizzy, Fuzzy Adult Swim Comp Contribution ‘Better Man’

'Garage Swim' Cover Art

Adult Swim and Dr Pepper have already shared a couple of tracks off their upcoming Garage Swim compilation — Thee Oh Sees’ sloppy, swaggering “Devil Again” and the Black Lips’ jouncy “Cruising” — and now the television network is offering another cut off the impending collection, Mikal Cronin’s similarly fizzy and fuzzy “Better Man.” Like the 10 power-pop beauties that make up Cronin’s forthcoming sophomore album, MCII (out May 7 through Merge but available for streaming right now), the horn-enriched “Better Man” marries a winding, delicate melody to swaths of glowing distortion, resulting in a fragile but formidable tune. Hear it down below.

Garage Swim will be available as a free download for 10 weeks, beginning May 6 and ending July 14. Out on Adult Swim’s Williams Street Records imprint, the mix features a total of 15 never-before-released tracks from JEFF the Brotherhood, Bass Drum of Death, King Khan, and more.
