Muse already let slip that they’ll be playing this year’s Austin City Limits Music Festival, and now word has trickled in that fun., Grouplove, Shovels & Rope, and True Believers will also be playing the annual showcase, which takes place across two weekends (October 4 to 6 and October 11 to 13) at Austin, Texas’ Zilker Park.
The reveal came via a crop of mysterious classified ads (a stunt similar to Vampire Weekend‘s LP3 album title reveal) placed in local newspaper the Austin Chronicle (via the Hollywood Reporter). “For a little Fun. Call 555-ACL-FEST,” one listing reads, while another asks, “Looking for some Grouplove?” The other two clues go: “Seeking True Believers. Worship with us! #ACLFEST” and “We have great deals on Shovels & Rope” (via HitFix).
This sort of oddball approach to lineup announcements isn’t out of character for ACL; bits of last year’s roster were reportedly unveiled via a series of scratch lottery cards that were sold in various local businesses.
Organizers for ACL will confirm the festival’s entire 2013 lineup on May 7 at 12:01 a.m. CST. Passes for the double-weekend event will go on sale that same day beginning at 10 a.m. CST.
