James Blake — fresh off the release of his “beautifully complex” sophomore album, Overgrown — dropped by the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios recently to give a brief live performance and interview for Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 program. The post-dubstep Brit delivered soulful, bruised renditions of two Overgrown songs (lead single “Retrograde” and the album’s smouldering title track), and also played a stark cover of Digital Mystikz’s “Anti War Dub.” Between the musical bits, Blake discussed his live show, his favorite cut off the new record, and his nascent plans for LP No. 3. Head over to the BBC to hear the entire 27-minute broadcast.
