Doom-pop heroes Baroness have announced their first American tour dates since their harrowing bus accident in August 2012. Singer-guitarist John Baizley officially confirmed the amicable departure of bassist Matt Maggioni and drummer Allen Bickle last week, hinting that he’d be hitting the road again soon with a new rhythm section in tow.

Sebastian Thomson, the beastly drummer formerly of the D.C.-based post-rock institution Trans Am and of Ian Svenonius’ Weird War, will take over behind the drum kit. The jazz-trained Nick Jost will handle bass. Information on Jost’s previous musical endeavors are relatively scarce (here’s a YouTube of a bearded “Nick Jost” digging into an upright bass, though SPIN cannot confirm he is the same Nick), but if he’s up to the standard that Thomson has proved over nine albums in 14 years for Thrill Jockey, Baroness fans should see a relatively smooth transition as the new lineup makes its way across the U.S. in May and June.
