Gucci Mane Surrenders to Police Over Assault Charge

Gucci Mane

Gucci Mane, already his own worst enemy, has given himself up to authorities and was booked into Georgia’s Fulton County Jail last night, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

Gucci Mane faces a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon. He’s reportedly accused of hitting a soldier in the head with a champagne bottle at an Atlanta club. A Fulton Country sheriff’s spokesperson told the AJC the rapper was set for a hearing today with a magistrate.

According to Atlanta’s Channel 2 Action News, the alleged victim has said he just wanted to have his photo taken with Gucci Mane but ended the night with a concussion and stitches. Another person reportedly said Gucci Mane hit him in the face at a Philadelphia club a couple of nights after the alleged Atlanta incident.

Gucci Mane appears in the recently released movie Spring Breakers, and our hip-hop blogger Brandon Soderberg evaluated his performance. The film’s star Vanessa Hudgens also talked with SPIN about her “vulgar” musical tastes. And before Gucci Mane’s latest bout of legal troubles, he was busy showing he could not only rap but sing, too.
