Beyoncé already runs the world (girls), but on a new track posted to SoundCloud Sunday (March 17), Mrs. Carter goes back to her Houston roots. “Bow Down / I Been On” is a schizophrenic three-and-a-half-minute hybrid from producers Hit-Boy and Timbaland. Sasha Fierce is at her fiercest, shit-talking haters in a minute-long verse at the top: “I took some time to live my life, but don’t think I’m just his little wife,” she charges, commanding those bishes to bow, bow down. Shout-outs to H-Town, Geto Boys’ Willie D, and Pimp C of UGK follow, all chopped and screwed with pitched-up and -down vocal warps, operatic wails, and skittering hi-hats.
It’s unclear whether “Bow Down” will appear on Bey’s in-the-works album or if she’ll perform it on her upcoming tour, but at least Lady Gaga now has someone other than Terry Richardson to share her “Cake” with. Lyrics and stream below.
