The 55th Annual Grammy Awards airs live on February 10, but the night before the annual ceremony, the Recording Academy will look back at last year’s broadcast and its last-minute shuffle to pay tribute to the late Whitney Houston in a new documentary, The Grammys Will Go On: A Death in the Family.

Houston died suddenly at the age of 48 on February 11, the day before the 2012 Grammys. A Death in the Family offers a “behind the scenes” look at how “the show’s producers, host, and musical artists made last-minute changes to the program against the backdrop of tragic and unforeseen circumstances.” Airing on February 9, the one-hour special promises never-before-seen rehearsal footage and exclusive interviews with artists and Grammy producers for a peek into the 48 hours leading up to the 54th Annual Grammy Awards.

Expect appearances from the Super Bowl-bound Jennifer Hudson and Sound City Players frontman Dave Grohl, as well as many others, including Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, and LL Cool J, who hosted the 2012 awards and will also MC this year’s edition. Raitt, LL, and Hudson all cameo in the two-minute preview that can be seen up above.

“All the people associated with the show had stayed up all night to scramble,” says Raitt, who performed live at last year’s telecast. “To move the things around to be able to pay tribute to Whitney. I don’t think I’ve ever been a part of anything quite as immediate as that.”

“From LL Cool J’s opening prayer, to Jennifer Hudson’s unannounced performance of Houston’s Grammy-winning ‘I Will Always Love You,’” reads a press release, “There were a number of last-minute changes that demonstrate what this annual live production does best: deliver a critically acclaimed telecast despite unexpected circumstances and challenges.”

Houston’s self-titled 1985 debut album was recently added to the Grammy Hall of Fame.

The Grammys Will Go On: A Death in the Family airs on CBS on February 9 at 9 p.m. EST. The 55th Annual Grammy Awards — which will feature live performances from Frank Ocean, fun., Taylor Swift, Rihanna, the Black Keys, Jack White, and more — broadcasts live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on CBS on February 10 at 8 p.m. EST.
