Metallica Recruit Deftones, Red Hot Chili Peppers for 2013 Orion Music + More Lineup

Metallica have tapped Red Hot Chili Peppers, Deftones, and Rise Against to co-headline the 2013 edition of the Orion Music + More festival. Relocated from Atlantic City to Detroit in its second year, the event’s solid two-day lineup runs the gamut from legendary rock supergroups (Tomahawk, FLAG) and EDM godheads (Bassnectar, Datsik) to SPIN darlings (Japandroids, Death Grips) and, uh, others.

The Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award recipients will also host a series of “lifestyle” events, including a custom car and motorcycle show, Hit the Lights film screenings, “Kirk’s Crypt” — which looks to be, in the trailer above, a haunted house where horror geek Kirk Hammett is the main thrill — a Vans half pipe, and a Metallica museum.

Orion will take place at Detroit’s Bell Isle on June 8 and 9. Two-day passes will be available for $150; VIP passes will go for $750. Tickets go on sale March 1 at the Orion website. MET Club members can purchase tickets at deeply discounted rates starting February 28. Full lineup below.
