Maximum Hedrum's Adrenalized 'Synthesize' Video

Last we heard from Sam Spiegel, he was at the helm of N.A.S.A., a space-age hip-hop project that brought together guests like E-40, David Byrne, Seu Jorge, and Karen O for a group effort of epic proportions. With his new outfit, Maximum Hedrum, he drops the galactic conceit, but the band’s new single definitely sounds rocket-powered. With vocals from Sepultura’s Derrick Green and co-production from Harold Faltermeyer, “Synthesize” is a super-sonic blast of funk rock that lands somewhere between Daft Punk and Black Sabbath. Upping the adrenaline quotient, the video borrows footage from Spike Jonze, Ty Evans, and Cory Weincheque’s no-holds-barred skateboarding film, Pretty Sweet. Not like we really need to tell you, but kids, do not try this at home.

Maximum Hedrum’s debut album is out March 19 on Spectrophonic Sound.
