Watch All-Pink-Everything Jay-Z Freestyle to EPMD in 1989

Jay-Z Jaz-O Freestyle Video EPMD 1989 "So What Cha Sayin'"

Kanye West may not be feeling Jay-Z’s “Suit & Tie” look, but we’re guessing that even Yeezy would choose his Watch the Throne partner’s grown-man style over the head-to-toe pink outfit Jigga was sporting in 1989. In the above clip, shared by Rap Radar, a 20-year-old Jay-Z freestyles with his mentor Jaz-O over EPMD’s “So What Cha Sayin’.” They trade a ton of triplets and say things like “perpetratin'” and “millions of nubians,” all while a couple of dudes pop, lock, and Running-Man awesomely in the background.

The video quality is something marvel at, smacking of public access television and hailing from something called Digital Gunz TV. Jay-Z’s first single, “In My Lifetime” didn’t drop until 1995, and Reasonable Doubt was released a year later, so this is a rare look at the origins of the rap elder statesman we know Jay to be today. And since we’re looking back, here’s this:
