Ellie Goulding was nowhere to be found in the video for “Summit,” her collaboration with Grammy all-star Skrillex, but the English singer made her way onto television screens last night (February 12) via Jimmy Kimmel Live! Decked out in a fuzzy pink sweater and leather hot pants, the 26-year-old pop star brought the late-night house down with “Anything Could Happen,” the lead single off her 2012 album, Halcyon. Supported by a thumping blend of bass, piano, and synths, Goulding’s vocals soar over most of this three-and-a-half-minute performance. Near the end, the Lights singer dips into a hoarser range with no instrumentation behind her, making for a show-stopping bridge that impresses even further when her pitch suddenly rockets up with the help of clipped coo samples and audience handclaps.
