Pink is facing a $36,000 lawsuit from producers who worked on the chart-topper‘s 2000 debut album, Can’t Take Me Home, TMZ reports. Executives with production company Specialists Entertainment filed suit against the Truth About Love singer in New York City last month, alleging that Pink signed a contract with Specialists and Thunderstone Productions in 1999 to produce songs for her first LP. Documents state that the two companies, which worked on two Can’t Take Me Home cuts (the title track and “Hiccup”), agreed to split all royalties 50-50 — only they never received any such royalties, according to the lawsuit.
“Sony are responsible for paying the producers,” a rep for Pink said, but the “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” star may have to cough up $36,213.31 to square away the alleged unpaid back royalties. Pink’s Can’t Take Me Home, which spawned hits such as “There You Go” and “Most Girls,” has sold 5 million copies, as per the suit’s documents.
Alecia Moore isn’t the only musician to get hit with legal action over a royalty dispute. RZA was recently served by Dutch singer Thea Van Seijen, who worked on 14 tracks with The Man With the Iron Fists director from 2004 to 2011. Van Seijen claims she didn’t receive all the money RZA owed her, while the Wu-Tang member’s camp has described the suit as an act of “desperation,” and a plot to “use RZA again to build a name for herself.”
