Green Day Piecing Together Axed Tour in 2013

Green Day, tour

After a 2012 mired in tour cancellationsdisappointing album sales, and rehab, Green Day are ready for a fresh start in 2013. The Bay Area trio announced on their website on Monday (December 31) that they will resume touring in support of their ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré! album trilogy in March, kicking off a 33-date trek across North America and Europe with an appearance at Chicago’s Allstate Arena.

“We want to thank everyone for hanging in with us for the last few months,” Green Day said in a statement. “We are very excited to hit the road and see all of you again, though we regret having to cancel more shows.” The elder pop-punks nixed a total of 10 shows when they unveiled the new itinerary, which wraps up in July at Spain’s Bilbao BBK Live festival. Refunds for canceled shows are available at points of purchase and tickets for all postponed performances will be honored on the new dates.

Frontman (and This Is 40 guest star) Billie Joe Armstrong posted to Instagram on Dec. 31 to pay tribute to Green Day’s patient and supportive fans. “Dear friends,” he wrote, “I just want to thank you all for the love [and] support you’ve shown for the past few months. Believe me, it hasn’t gone unnoticed and I’m eternally grateful to have such an amazing set of friends and family. I’m getting better every day. So now, without further ado, the show must go on. We can’t wait to get on the road and live out loud! Our passion has only grown stronger.”
