See RZA Fight the Black Keys for ‘The Baddest Man Alive’ Title

RZA Black Keys Baddest Man Alive Video

The jury’s out on whether he’s “The Baddest Man Alive,” but Wu-Tang Clan boss the RZA can do no wrong these days. With his feature film The Man With the Iron Fists hitting theaters on November 2, he’s released a hilarious new music video for his soundtrack collaboration with the Black Keys. Chris Marrs Piliero directs “The Baddest Man Alive,” wherein RZA, Dan Auerbach, and Patrick Carney get into a gorily epic kung-fu-style brawl over a fortune cookie. Highlights include a nearly deadly fish-slap, the untimely removal of a customer’s arm, and the Iron Fists footage, featuring Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu, playing on the restaurant TVs.

In a new interview with Movies.com, RZA explains that his Quentin Tarantino-presented movie almost had a tie-in to the famed director’s forthcoming film, Django Unchained. RZA’s Iron Fists character, a former slave-turned-blacksmith named Thaddeus, nearly appeared in the latter. “The idea was that Thaddeus would be on the auction block [in Django]. You’ve seen the trailer, when the camera passes by all the guys? So Thaddeus is supposed to be on that line,” he explained, adding that, “because of the schedule for Iron Fists, I had to let another character do it. I didn’t make it into the film.” RZA makes up for lost screen time in “The Baddest Man Alive.”
