Paramore’s Former Members Look to Bury the Hatchet

Paramore’s split with founding guitarist Josh Farro and drummer Zac Farro was nothing if not messy. In December 2010, the band announced the brothers’ exit after months of speculation. Josh said in a blog post that the band members had “always been treated as less important” than frontwoman Hayley Williams and criticized Williams’ song lyrics as blasphemous. Williams revealed that much of the band’s 2009 album, brand new eyes, addressed her failed relationship with Josh.

Now, as Zac sets out with an atmospheric synth-pop solo project called HalfNoise, he has disclosed that the brothers are trying to patch up their differences with their former band. Asked about Josh’s blog post, Zac told NME: “Josh definitely regrets being so emotional right after he left. He stands by what he believes, but he has tried to make peace with everyone in the band about that letter. I know they’re still not fond of him because it was so hurtful.”

Zac, whose self-titled debut EP as HalfNoise comes out next week, also acknowledged the role Paramore played in the brothers’ lives. “Both he and I don’t want to act like we were never a part of that,” he’s quoted as saying. “We’re still very proud of it. Neither of us want them to break up.”

Who said anything about breaking up? Paramore performed their first show in more than a year in August. The Williams-led band has been working on a fourth album, which Paramore announced in April will be produced by former Beck and Nine Inch Nails bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen, who produced M83’s 2011 Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming.
