Lady Gaga Stars in Robert Rodriguez Film, Kicks ‘So Much Ass’

Believe it or not, despite having pretended to be a Hollywood starlet many times over, Lady Gaga has actually taken a whole four years since her debut album The Fame to take the leap into the movies. However, it seems her Simpsons episode was enough encouragement to finally just do it: she and director Robert Rodriguez announced yesterday that Mother Monster’s silver screen debut is nigh, and will take the form of someone named La Chameleón in next year’s Danny Trejo-starring Machete Kills.

“I just finished working with @LadyGaga on @MacheteKills, she kicked SO MUCH ASS! Holy Smokes. Blown away!” Rodriguez tweeted yesterday afternoon, along with a promo image of the singer looking exactly like what one would expect her to look, wearing a wolf-pelt stole and holding a smoking pistol. (We can’t wait for the inevitable PETA condemnation.)

Gaga herself tweet-confirmed the news soon after, writing, “Yes its true, I will be making my debut as an actress in the amazing MACHETE KILLS BY @RODRIGUEZ IM SO EXCITED!!! AH! Filming was insane.” As the Daily Swarm astutely points out, Gaga would seem to be either distancing herself from her former life as someone named “Stefani Germanotta” or she is forgetting that she once appeared on The Sopranos at age 15.

Machete Kills is the sequel to Machete, a spin-off of Spy Kids. It boasts an extremely blog-friendly cast that includes Lindsay Lohan, Sofia Vergara, Mel Gibson, and Charlie Sheen (playing the President of the United States, because of course), and will be about the ex-federale, whose true love (Jessica Alba, obviously) was murdered in the first Machete flick, getting into another “MacGyver only with Mexican drug cartels”-type situation.

Gaga herself seems to be on a serious film kick. Not only has she been petitioning Disney to make her the next Disney princess, she also recently solicited fans on her newly launched social network to submit to a film project, the winners of which will have the chance to help direct the videos that she’ll be making for each song on the new record.
