The 10 Most Awkward Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Jams

Ronnie Wood and Flea, awkward / Kevin Mazur/WireImage

With all the hubbub over who would and would not show up for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony this past Saturday in Cleveland, everyone seemed to forget the most truly awkward part of the event that happens every year, regardless of who decides to write 1,038-word letters about the subject — the closing jam! While you’ll have to wait until the May 5 HBO broadcast of the 2012 ceremony to experience the inanity of Red Hot Chili Peppers jamming with Ron Wood, Slash, and audience member George Clinton, we spent the weekend reliving every epic show-closing jam we could find to bring you SPIN’s top 10 most cringe-inducing Induction collabos. For those about to rock, we do not salute you. MELISSA GIANNINI and DAVID MARCHESE

When: January 23, 1986
Who: Keith Richards, Ron Wood, inductee Jerry Lee Lewis, and ubiquitous hypeman Paul Shaffer back up John Fogerty in a steamy rendition of “Proud Mary” for the ceremony’s inaugural year. Is Keith trying not to laugh? Is Jerry Lee really playing? Is the audience not clapping in unison on purpose?
As Embarrassing As: Getting busted for public urination.
