My Bloody Valentine Give Us Their Back Catalog Again

My Bloody Valentine aren’t giving us a third album just yet (or anytime soon, for that matter), but at least we’ll have something new to mull around our ear-holes: The Dublin quartet has announced a full reissue of their back catalog. The band’s only two (yet both definitive) full-lengths, Isn’t Anything (1988) and Loveless (1991), will get the remaster-and-reissue treatment, Sony Ireland announced today, with Loveless getting bolstered by an additional disc of previously unreleased tracks (!) (via Slicing Up Eyeballs). In addition, the band is combining the material from its four EPs (Feed Me With Your Kiss, You Made Me Realise, Glider, and Tremolo) and releasing it as a compilation cleverly titled EPs 1988-1991 with a few more rare and unreleased tracks tacked on. Judging by the track listing (below), only three totally unheard tracks will be included, but if you’re stateside, not a early adopter or superfan, and not a frequenter of overseas eBay MBV merch-sellers, expect a grand total of seven songs you haven’t heard before (that’s almost enough for another record, right?… Hello?).

The last time the world saw My Bloody Valentine was at the U.K.’s “Nightmare Before Christmas” ATP fest that they curated in December 2009. Whether this reissue burst will spark the quartet to get back onstage remains to be seen. And don’t forget, some unnamed MBV memorabilia is now floating around, courtesy of ex-Creation Records CEO Alan McGee’s early spring cleaning.
