Watch Yelawolf, Ryan Adams, Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg Take Over Late Night

“Better recognize game,” goes the emphatically crooned hook to Alabama rapper Yelawolf’s single “Let’s Roll” from deft, down-home debut Radioactive. While the album version’s featured guest Kid Rock didn’t make it out for Yela’s performance of the song last night on Conan, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker did. Game recognizing game turned out to be something of a theme across Monday’s late-night TV offerings.

Yelawolf’s Conan O’Brien visit followed his network TV debut last week on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, when he performed “Let’s Roll” and Radioactive cut “The Hardest Love Song in the World.” The head-nodding Kimmel studio audience brought a different energy, but Barker’s drumstick-blazing work last night underscored the song’s rap-rock roots — and here, that’s far from a bad thing. Backed by a full band, complete with a scratch-happy DJ, Yela was a kinetic presence onstage, representing his home state with a Crimson Tide T-shirt beneath his flannel. Fitting. In a night of unlikely pairings, Ryan Adams was the exception. On Late Night With David Letterman, the former Whiskeytown leader cut a solitary figure for a tender rendition of acoustic ballad “Lucky Now,” from new album Ashes and Fire, which pares down some of his more eccentric tendencies. Adams also performed a nearly 70-minute online set for Letterman, including old favorites like “Oh My Sweet Carolina,” “Jacksonville Skyline,” and “16 Days,” plus a cover of Bob Mould’s “Black Sheets of Rain.” Watch both the TV performance (via the Audio Perv) and the full concert below.

As previously reported, Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg filmed a stoner-buddy film, Mac & Devin Go to High School, and the soundtrack is set to hit shelves on December 13. “So what we don’t sleep?” the successful potheads told the audience on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, during a straightforward rendition of the soundtrack’s mellow party anthem “Young, Wild & Free.” Unsurprisingly, both rappers were wearing dark shades.

And, just for fun, here’s comedian Steve Martin and his bluegrass band Steep Canyon Rangers, also on Fallon to perform “Northern Ireland,” from their album Rare Bird Alert. Speaking of recognizing game, check out those banjo chops (via the Audio Perv):
