Watch Coldplay’s Chris Martin Do His Best ‘Dancing Thom’ on ‘SNL’

Chris Martin has unintentionally revived a nearly year-old meme related to a nearly decade-old creative rivalry: He spastically grooved to “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” on this past weekend’s Saturday Night Live in the style of Dancing Thom. Coldplay performed the Mylo Xyloto single, as well as “Paradise” in front of a day-glo graffiti backdrop, and Martin also popped up on Weekend Update as a “backup singer” for the perpetually under-prepared Garth and Kat. The whole band wept to Adele’s “Someone Like You” as SNL explored the omnipresence of Adele’s tear-jerker, but here’s a few words to comfort Mr. Martin: Yes, your tight T-shirt ably demonstrated you have much bigger arms than Thom Yorke, and your awkward moves are still better than Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger.” If only rappers were really into sampling Coldplay…

Don’t jet without reading “Chris Martin’s Quiet Riot.”
