Kid Cudi, Shia LaBeouf Slaughter the Fourth Wall in ‘Maniac’ Clip

Kid Cudi’s “Maniac” has nothing to do with that one time The Simpsons‘ Groundskeeper Willie sang in his Scottish brogue about how he’s “a maniac, maniac, that’s for sure / and I’m dancing like I’ve never danced before” (however we’ve included the clip below for your amusement). Oddly enough, though, Kid Cudi’s “Maniac” short film also has little to do with the song of the same title from his 2010 Man on the Moon II album, either.

Directed by Indiana Jones/Transformers actor Shia LaBeouf, who also helmed Cudi’s “Marijuana” video and is in business with Marilyn Manson, this 10-minute clip instead follows a couple of cold-blooded killers (played by Cudi and fellow rapper Cage) as they go about their business some snowy holiday season. Repeated onscreen references to the camera might appear to indicate some sort of underlying theme about the complicity of the viewer. But mostly it seems Cudi and Shia smuggled some good stuff back from Amsterdam and wanted to make something spooky. Breaking the fourth wall with a bullet, brahs (via Nah Right):
