Mastodon Tracklist, Jack White Honors Hank + More

  • Mastodon revealed the tracklisting for their next album The Hunter, which will be released with two bonus tracks. The Atlanta metal band will also drop their next cut, “Curl the Burl,” on August 16. Guitarist Brent Hinds told SPIN in May that the LP is “fucking awesome” and that he hasn’t “had this feeling about a Mastodon record since [2004’s] Leviathan.” Hear the first song “Black Tongue” here and head to their official site to see the tracklisting.

  • Jack White, Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams, and other artists will contribute songs to a Hank Williams tribute album titled The Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams. The set is based on lyrics and song notes penned by country legend, which were discovered after his death in 1953. It’s due out October 4. [NME]

  • Scottish electronic label Soma will put out an unreleased Daft Punk song titled “Drive” on a box set this September. The electronic duo originally sent the song as a demo to the label, which was unearthed by the company while sorting through old DATs. [Pitchfork]

  • The xx‘s Jamie xx will debut new material on August 11 in London as part of a performance with “sound visualization artist” Quayola. The four-hour event promises a “360-degree immersive visual experience” on HD screens. “It’s exciting to be able to use Quayola’s work to immerse the crowd deeper into the whole experience,” says Jamie.   • Black Cab Sessions – the British web show that has featured artists like Band of Horses, Jens Lekman, and Bon Iver performing in the back of a taxi – will come to the U.S. with a 6-part series.
