Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV has had multiple delays, so the MC has been promising to release a mixtape to tide fans over until Carter‘s now official August 29 street date. Sorry 4 the Wait, his thank you to fans, just hit the web. Download it here or stream below (via DatPiff).

Wayne’s last album I Am Not a Human Being found him going in a rock direction, with mixed results. Thankfully, he gets back hip-hop on Sorry 4 the Wait, and the 12-track set may hold up as one of his best unofficial releases ever.

The thunderous banger “Rollin'” features shout-outs to Beyoncé and hilarious boasts like “Let my dreads grow out/ My bitch got a blow out/ Mi casa, su casa/ My house is a ‘ho house.” The title-track, meanwhile, pins Adele’s smash hit “Rolling in the Deep” underneath Wayne’s brilliant rapid-fire rhymes like, “Weezy go hard like Cialis / Don’t love that bitch / I fuck that ho / She pop X, I smoke O / Tic-tac-toe!”

Other highlights: the industrial “IDK,” which samples Beyoncé’s “Run the World (Girls),” and the Lil B-assisted freestyle “Grove St. Party,” which features wild, interstellar synth lines similar to “Lollipop.” “I dropped that ‘Sorry for the Wait’ to make up for the time,’ Wayne raps. Judging by this excellent set, dude’s forgiven.
