Com Truise, ‘Galactic Melt’ (Ghostly International)

Like Boards of Canada meets Vangelis, Seth Haley’s self-described”mid-fi synth-wave, slow-motion funk” project saturates dark, arpeggiatedinstrumentals with cinematic ’80s nostalgia (see formerly state-of-the-art glories like Tron and Blade Runner). Using vintage analog synths and drum machines, Haley allows you to sink into the water bed and contemplate those Sean Young posters, while tracks like “VHS Sex,” the complex yet laid-back “Glawio,” and the robotic apotheosis of “Futureworld” send you hurtling back toward electronica’s past perfection.
