Ohio blues rockers the Black Keys, one of SPIN’s Artists of the Year, kicked off 2011 in triumphant fashion — by performing two songs on 2011’s first episode of Saturday Night Live, which scored the highest ratings since Betty White’s appearance with Jay-Z last May!

Singer-guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney, backed by a bassist and keyboardist, played “Tighten Up” and “Howlin’ for You,” both off their 2010 release Brothers, one of SPIN’s best albums of the year. Watch their performance below!

Jim Carrey also delivered the goods. Returning as host for the first time in 15 years, the I Love You Phillip Morris star kicked off the show with a spoof of blockbuster film Black Swan, prancing around in a little black tutu. Watch below!
