Taylor Swift Rules Charts, Gucci Mane Arrested

  • Taylor Swift‘s new album Speak Now has sold a whopping 1,047,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It’s the biggest first-week sales for an album since 50 Cent‘s The Massacre, which moved 1,141,000 copies in March of 2005. Since SoundScan began tracking data in 1991, only 16 albums have sold more than a million albums in their debut week; ‘NSync holds the record with 2,416,000 copies sold of No Strings Attached in 2000.   • Gucci Mane was arrested for a variety of traffic violations and obstruction on Wednesday morning in Atlanta. The rapper, whose real name is Radric Davis, was charged with driving on the wrong side of the road, running a traffic light, driving without a license, and other violations. Police also had to subdue Davis with pepper spray when they found him fighting with an unidentified passenger. The arrest comes six months after he was released from prison for violating parole.   • Wolf Parade have released two new tracks, “Semi-Precious Stone” and “Agents of Love.” The cuts are outtakes from their latest album Expo 86. [iTunes, via Consequence of Sound]

  • Interpol have announced a 13 date U.S. tour in January and February of next year. The trek includes a February 17 gig at New York’s Radio City Music Hall; on-sale begins on November 5. [Interpol’s Official Site]
