My Morning Jacket dropped by Jimmy Fallon last night and the Kentucky crew teamed up with house band the Roots for an awesome version of “Wordless Chorus,” which gets a soulful revamp thanks to a trio of backup singers and some sweet sousaphone action. Check out the clip below.

As SPIN previously reported, MMJ will hit up New York’s Terminal 5 next week to perform all five of their studio albums in their entirety. Expect the band to also break out a slew of rarities. “We have a huge list of songs we need to work on,” guitarist Carl Broemel told SPIN. “The actual albums themselves will be the easy part. Super old EP stuff or covers we haven’t played in years — that’s where the real work is involved.”

After revisiting their past, MMJ will head back into the studio to work on their sixth album, expected in early 2011. Bassist Tom Blankenship told SPIN the band will get back to their “laid-back” roots on the record. “It’s worlds apart from what we were doing with Evil Urges,” he said. “This time it’s just the five of us; the control room is only separated by a curtain. We’re going back to a similar vibe that we had on the first three records.”
