WATCH: Apache Beat’s Trippy New Video

On their debut album Last Chants, Brooklyn’s Apache Beat weave a vibrant patchwork that captures the eclectic, chaotic energy of New York: tribal beats, serrated, post-punk guitar riffs, and shouted vocals that call to mind pioneering new wave acts like Talking Heads.

Apache Beat called on their fellow New York friends in the Yeah Yeahs Yeahs, Lightspeed Champion and the Rapture to contribute cameos to the disc, which makes the band’s music come on like the soundtrack to some drug-fueled, late-night downtown party at 3AM. Apache Beat’s debut doesn’t hit stores until October 5, but SPIN has an exclusive clip of the group’s psychedelic video for standout single “Another Day.” Check it out below.

Apache Beat recruited British video artist Cherise Payne to produce the clip, which mashes trippy screen-saver-style visuals with footage of old art-house movies that she found on a VHS cassette. Towards the end, the video morphs into what looks like the coolest intro to a James Bond movie ever, with the band members dancing around in silhouette.

“Cherise wanted to make all these natural images more magical, which we were into,” says Apache Beat singer Ilirjana Alushaj. “It’s very hypnotizing.”
