Panic! at the Disco Cover ‘Little Shop of Horrors’

The music of Las Vegas band Panic! at the Disco has always been heavily influenced by musical theater, so it makes complete sense that Panic bandmates Brendon Urie and Dallon Weekes have covered a song from the classic musical Little Shop of Horrors.

“Skid Row,” posted for free on a new website, is mostly faithful to the original from the ’80s off-Broadway sensation (and the 1986 feature film, which starred Rick Moranis and Steve Martin), and jazzed up with some Cars-y synth hooks and bursts of electric power chords.

Urie handles the vocals of Audrey, the musical’s man-eating plant, while Weekes-who’s been playing bass in Panic since the departure of Jon Walker and Ryan Ross last year-sings the parts of dimwitted Seymour Krelborn.

It’s not known whether this is part of some larger project, but core Panic members Urie and drummer Spencer Smith have spent the bulk of 2010 working on the third Panic! at the Disco full length.
