WATCH: MGMT Practices Weird Science In New Video

Take John Hughes’s 1985 cult-classic “Weird Science,” add two Wesleyan-educated rockers on ecstasy and kooky French director So Me (Justice’s “D.A.N.C.E.”; Kid Cudi’s “Day ‘N Nite”), and you get the new video for “It’s Working” from MGMT.

The clip for the harpsichord-laden third single off this year’s Congratulations features the psychedelic duo attempting to construct a giant, multi-purpose machine — that serves as a colorizer, soft-serve dispenser, photo booth, and replicator of hot chicks — before things begin to get out of control. The clip also features Andrew VanWyngarden as a Catholic schoolgirl — very sexy.

“In [the video], Ben and I find this box and these instructions to put together a machine that’s constantly changing, and we end up losing control over it,” VanWyngarden told Pitchfork.”Saying this now, it sounds so metaphorical for our musical career, which is really funny.”
