Terrific Twitter Trio of the Week

Lots of musicians tweet — but all that Twitters is not gold.

That’s why you’ll want to check out SPIN.com every Friday to see whose tweets we’re reading this week — then update your TweetDeck! (Obligatory Self-Promotion: While you’re at it, be sure to follow @SPINmagazine!)

  • Mr. Hudson
    @MrHudson

    Why You Should Follow: This British R&B artist — best known for providing the vocals on Jay-Z’s hit song “Forever Young” and Kanye West’s “Paranoid” — is never far from his Twitter. He posts updates about his day-to-day life and interacts with fans, who are borderline obsessed with his debut album, Straight No Chaser, which was released in the U.K. last spring and will be released in the U.S. soon. Expect lots of British-isms (“im on a train and it’s chocka block mate”), Twitpics of fancy cars and dead poets made out of Legos, and tales of constant travel (“just realised i was up for 30 hrs yesterday. Bristol to Heathrow to JFK to Lower East Side to NBC studio to da club then Lower East Side”). His tweets are adorably humble (he still gets starstruck around Jay-Z!) and he seems to actually read everything his fans tweet at him.

    Best Tweet of the Week: “sangria x busta + jerry wonda – jetlag = platinum sound baybee”

  • The Young Veins’ Jon Walker
    @iamjonwalker

    Why You Should Follow: Last summer, Jon Walker and Ryan Ross left Panic! at the Disco to start their own band, the Young Veins. This summer, they’re heating up Bonnaroo, touring with Rooney and Black Gold, and getting ready to release their anticipated debut album, Take a Vacation!. Expect bassist Walker to tweet through it all, since he already tweets about pretty much everything — from avocado sales at the local grocery store to Hanson’s performance on The Tonight Show. He often posts song lyrics from classic tracks like “War” by Edwin Starr and “Subterranean Homesick Blues” by Bob Dylan, Chuck Norris jokes, and Twitpics of Scrabble games and recording sessions.

    Best Tweet of the Week: This behind-the-scenes shot from the filming of an upcoming music video.

  • Robyn
    @robynkonichiwa

    Why You Should Follow: Last week, the Swedish electro-pop vixen released the video for the first single off her upcoming album, Body Talk Pt. 1 — and announced via Twitter that she’s hitting the road with hip-hop star Kelis (for a tour that will include lasers and confetti, apparently). Lest you miss any other big announcements, you should start following her now. You’ll get all sorts of news updates, links to ’80s music videos, and witty quips about daily life (“Rehearsals with my band is like having a disco with my afternoon tea”). Bonus points: She sometimes tweets in Swedish — and often replies to fans!

    Best Tweet of the Week: “Kleerup just told me that Tommy Lee’s girlfriend is my fan.”
