Metric Wins Pepsi Refresh SXSW Challenge!
The Pepsi Refresh SXSW Challenge has come to a close, and Pepsi and SPIN are proud to announce Metric as the winner!Your votes were tallied, and the competition was close, but Metric beat out fellow indie rockers Broken Social Scene.Metric selected the Women’s Funding Network as their organization of choice and thanks to your votes, they will receive a Pepsi Refresh Grant for $100,000.The Women’s Funding Network seeks social justice and accelerates women’s leadership in social issues.
Metric frontwoman Emily Haines presented the concept of “a future not a past” in the video for their Refresh idea.Haines stresses the importance in stopping child exploitation in the United States, and she now has the ability to fund this important initiative.The Women’s Funding Network will use the funds to create development programs that empower women and children, and refresh their confidence.Your votes made this possible.
