Angels & Airwaves will spread their LOVE across the U.S. this spring.

The San Diego space-rock band — fronted by Blink-182 guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge — have announced a 40-date trek in support of their just-released third album, LOVE, available now as a free download via the band’s website. The tour kicks off March 27 at Anaheim, CA’s Bamboozle Left festival, where the quartet will headline alongside AFI, and closes two months later in Las Vegas. Los Angeles emo rockers Say Anything will open all dates.

LOVE dropped on Valentine’s Day, but later this year Angels & Airwaves will release an accompanying feature length film of the same name — a sci-fi epic featuring real actors, an intergalactic plot, and a score of all new music from the band, which fans can expect to hear on the tour. DeLonge hopes that the multi-media release in conjunction with the upcoming trek will deliver the band’s conceptual message of love and interconnectedness.

“They all coincide together to be one ambitious statement,” he tells SPIN.com. “Not only a statement — but an artistic endeavor.”

DeLonge adds that the geometric lettering of the LOVE title (see it here) is the nexus of their message.

“We loved the idea of esoteric symbolism — geometric shapes hold an energy pattern. When a human looks at a shape, they instantly receive energy from their mind. So we reworked the geometric shape of the symbols in the word “love,” so when people see that word it instantly provides certain energy.”

DeLonge says fans can expect a unique visual and theatrical experience on the upcoming tour. “I get excited when any artist goes crazy and creates something that is an experience,” he says. And once LOVE the film releases, DeLonge tells SPIN that Angels & Airwaves “will come out with a big epic production of the movie and a concert together. And that will be something really, really exciting.”
