Watch: Air Tease New Song
The French ambient mavens perform the title track from their forthcoming album, Do the Joy, in the studio. Click here to watch!
Air, the French duo of Jean-Benoit Dunckel and Nicolas Godin, never shied away from high-tech methods to promote new material — their website for 2001’s 10,000 Hz Legend, which is still live, was years ahead of its time, and crashed many a PC. Now, they’re offering a taste of their upcoming album, Do the Joy, with a slinky web video featuring an in-studio performance that’s suitable for all levels of bandwidth.
In the clip, the duo performs about 75 seconds of the album’s title track in a humble studio, while cameras pan around their softly lit figures like some sort of 1970s-era Carpenters video. Godin picks away on the track’s very Moon Safari-era bassline, while Dunckel coaxes fabricated coos from his Moog synthesizer and tickles the keys of a grand piano.
It’s all vintage Air, and is available here for your viewing pleasure:
