Watch: The Killers’ Awesome ‘Letterman’ Performance

The Killers are serious about their bid to become America’s next rock gods. And Monday night the Las Vegas band made some serious headway with an awe-inspiring performance on The Late Show with David Letterman, backed by a 20-piece orchestra — including a freakin’ harp. This comes just weeks after the quartet’s dazzling hometown tour-opener and headlining performance at Coachella.

Frontman Brandon Flowers — in his feathered get-up — led the band in “A Dustland Fairytale.” The epic song with Bruce Springsteen-like lyrics about love in America’s Heartland, ascending piano melodies, and drastic rhythmic shifts reached new levels of drama because of the orchestra’s support.
